Qumulo Joins Ultra Ethernet Consortium, Partners with Intel and Arista

Qumulo, a leader in exabyte-scale data management, has become the first Networked Storage supplier to join the Ultra Ethernet Consortium. In a significant move, Qumulo announced its collaboration with Intel Corporation and Arista Networks to advance IT infrastructure in networking, storage, and data management. This partnership aims to enhance the performance and operations of Qumulo’s Scale Anywhere™ platform. Qumulo has successfully deployed over an exabyte of storage for hundreds of customers, utilizing Arista Networks EOS-based switching and routing systems. Arista’s 7280/7800 series with deep buffer architecture and leaf/spine configuration enables Qumulo to deliver scalable enterprise storage on a converged network, eliminating the need for costly legacy storage systems.

Ed Chapman, Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Alliances at Arista Networks, emphasized the importance of integrating high-performance and scalable networks for AI workloads. “As we develop high performance and scale networks for the largest AI pods on open and interoperable IP and Ethernet protocols, the evolution to Ultra Ethernet is to simplify the network and bring compute, AI processing, and storage together,” said Chapman. Qumulo’s platform is utilized by the San Diego Supercomputer Center at UC San Diego, supporting the Data Science Machine Learning Platform (DSMLP) which handles AI workloads for thousands of students. This collaboration highlights Qumulo's role as a six-time leader in Gartner’s Distributed File and Object Storage Magic Quadrant and its ability to scale to exabytes, providing a unified, software-based solution for hybrid enterprises.
